Are You Like a Monk or a Monkey?

Or…. How do YOU meditate?

I can feel some of you cringing just at the very mention of meditation. Maybe you’ve tried it and couldn’t “get into it”.  Maybe you think it’s too “woo-woo”, and not for you.

Well then, let me first link you to 141 reasons why you WANT to meditate

It’s a known fact that, for the vast majority, it takes decades to achieve that elusive state of flow, like a Buddhist Monk.

If you’re like most people, when you (try to) meditate it feels like your mind goes into a constant state of chatter, like a cheeky little monkey is in your head!

It’s okay… you’re normal!

I’m going to give you the skinny on some great technology out there today that corrects that chatty little dickens and helps you achieve a brain state that is equivalent to meditation mastery.

Picture
Scientists have studied and measured brainwaves for nearly a century with EEG (electroencephalogram) equipment which measures electrical activity in the brain.

What they found, and what sets the Monk-like-meditators apart from the monkey-minds (no offense intended), is that their brains enter into delta and theta brainwaves, which is the brain state where “magic” happens for your mind, body and spirit.

I have persevered with my meditation practice for several years and admit to monkey-brain.  Therefore, I have tried innumerable *assisted meditation products.

These include countless verbally-guided and musical meditations, the majority of which I got bored with very quickly.

Plus, I even bought the Muse Headband and - I’m a little embarrassed to say, also the Elf Emmit device.   Both began gathering dust on my shelf shortly after they arrived – and they were both somewhat pricey!

The Muse Headband might appeal to the more purist  meditator, who wants to achieve their ideal meditation brain state with some feedback from Muse  – go for it, I commend you for your patience and commitment!

But, if you’re anything like me, and you like getting results faster, let me tell you about what I’ve fallen madly in meditation-love with!

It’s Brainwave Entrainment and I’ve tried two companies’ products and like them both equally.

I purchased from one of them, and I can honestly say (and my husband will attest to this) that I am experiencing much higher life satisfaction since using this technology – it’s been about 6 weeks at the time of this post.

Rather than me explaining what brainwave entrainment is, instead you’ll find links to the FREE trials (below) so that you can experience each of their products for yourself.

*Be sure to visit their websites beforehand, so that you can fully understand the technology and their products and services, and assess whether they are appropriate for your situation.  If you have any medical condition, discuss the technology with your medical professional.

Here are the website links:
Centerpointe Institute’s official website
Exploration of Consciousness Research Institute or EOC Institute’s official website

Here are the links to the free trials:
Holosync – 5 day challenge – free trial version from Centerpointe Institute
Equisync - free trial from EOC Institute

I’ll just give you one spoiler alert about each one…

Holosync uses rainfall as the main soundscape with an overlay of chimes.  Periodically the chimes do get a bit clang-y, but I like it because it’s sort of more “organic music”, like how a wind chime’s notes are random and un-orchestrated.  I personally find this very peaceful and ethereal.

Equisync, as well, uses rainfall, but with an orchestral overlay.  It’s very pleasant, but also somewhat more predictable and seemingly in a repetitive loop, in contrast to the random chimes of the aforementioned.

There’s a price difference between the two, which may be of consideration to you.

I just also found out about Hemi-Sync, but have not tried their product, so cannot comment on efficacy or enjoyment.  I also tried InnaPeace, but their version didn’t resonate well with me.   Just thought I’d give you two more options.

After doing your research and perhaps trying one or more of the products, if none appeals to you or suits your situation, then take a peek at the Muse Headband.

Or… persevere with traditional meditation!  You might want to consider adding some aromatherapy and 528Hz music  to your meditation experience to assist in a low-tech but high-effect way.

Whatever you do, remember to Be FLAWSOME…. Accept Your Flaws. Still Feel  Awesome!

Namaste

*As always, I caution readers to do their own due diligence and research whether a product is suitable for them.  For instance, people prone to seizures and those with pace makers are not supposed to use this type of technology. My full cautionary statement and disclaimer are at the bottom of this Blog page.
